I along with a lot of others hate working abs, but lets face it, for a bikini competitor abs are essential on stage. I currently work abs 3-4 times a week at the end of my lift. My ab workouts are different EVERY time and last about 15-20 minutes usually.
I change my ab workout each time because I find my abs get used to the same exercises very quickly and adapt, so by changing it up it allows me to constantly challenge the muscle.
I have posted todays ab workout below. All exercises were done weighted as abs are like any other muscle. Would you really do 8 reps 4 sets of squats non-weighted?...
Todays ab workout:
Ab crunch machine 8 x 3 + 2 sets of 12 with lighter weight
Cable oblique twists 12 x 4 each side
Bench leg tucks 4 sets to failure
Decline sit ups 12 x 5
Decline russian twists 10 x 4
Hanging leg raises 3 sets to failure
